Let’s Talk Wingstop Corn Recipe Ingredients

Corn – Fresh cob of corn cut in smaller pieces is the best!

It has such a great fresh sweet taste and crunchy texture. If it’s not readily available, frozen mini corns will work.

Oil – Wingstop fries everything in soybean oil including their chicken wings and fried corn.

A better option is any type of vegetable oil or canola oil which are a bit more healthier and have a high smoke point. I do not recommend using olive oil.

Spices – The signature cajun seasoning used in this recipe is basically made up of simple ingredients that most of us have in our pantry and can adjust the amounts of each to your liking.

You can also use a pre mixed cajun seasoning such as Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning or Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning.

Butter – Unsalted butter is used since there is salt in the seasoning mix. You can use salted butter or even vegan butter.

Dipping Sauces – Wingstop serves the corn with their fry seasoning. They offer a variety of sauces you can order on the side.

The most popular dipping sauce for corn is their Ranch Dressing, which is what I prefer and have shared the recipe below! Super delicious!

How To Make Fried Cajun Corn Wingstop Style

There is a large white bowl with fresh corn on the cob pieces (mini cobs). The bowl is on a black and white terrazzo surface.

Prepare The Fresh Corn

  • Remove all the outer leaves (husks)  and pull off all the fibers (strings).
  • Rinse the cobs and pat dry with paper towels.
  • Cut each ear of corn into 3 to 4 pieces creating mini corn cobs.
There is a white small bowl with a mix of dry spices in it. There is a clear small bowl with melted butter in it sitting in front of the white bowl. There is a metal whisk laying next to the bowls. All items are on a black and white terrazzo surface.

Prepare The Cajun Spice Mix

  • Whisk together all the spices in a small mixing bowl.
  • In a separate small bowl, melt the butter.
Large white pot with pieces of corn on the cob in hot bubbling oil. There is a large glass thermometer clipped to the inside of the pan. Pan is on a grey glass surface.

Heat The Oil And Fry The Corn

  • Pour about 4 to 5 inches of oil into a deep pot with a heavy bottom. If you have a candy / deep fryer thermometer, attach it to the side of the pot making sure that the bottom tip is midway into the oil (see Top Tip).
  • Heat the oil to 350 degrees over medium heat.
  • Once the oil reaches 350 degrees, use heat resistant tongs and carefully add 3 to 5 pieces of corn (depending on the size of your pot) into the hot oil.
  • Cook the corn cobs for a few minutes or until they are a light golden brown and the edges of the kernels appear slightly crispy.
  • The corn will have to be cooked in batches.
Small pieces of fried corn on the cob laying on baking sheet lined with white paper towels.
  • Remove the cobs from the oil using tongs and allow the excess oil to drain off.
Small pieces of deep fried corn on the cob with light brown dry seasoning on them. Corn is in a large white mixing bowl. Bowl is sitting on a black and white terrazzo surface.
  • Place the fried corn in a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour the melted butter over the corn and toss the pieces until they coated.
  • Add the cajun spice mix over the buttery corn and toss well.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or seasoning.

Top Tip

If you don’t have a candy / deep fry thermometer, add a single kernel of corn into the oil. If it pops up to the surface, the oil is hot enough to fry the corn.
