Panko Parmesan Baked Shrimp With Crumbled Bacon

This is such a fantastic tasting and easy to make recipe!

You basically toss a bunch of raw shrimp in a mixture of white wine, lemon juice, melted butter and lots of garlic.

Top it off with panko crumbs, parmesan cheese, parsley, and more melted butter and bake it!

Throw on some crumbled bacon at the end and boom!

Baked Shrimp With Crumbled Bacon

The first time I made this simple dish, it instantly became a family favorite.

It’s one of my favorite shrimp recipes due to how versatile it can be! It can be the perfect appetizer or part of the main course.

Last night I topped cheese grits with the shrimp as the main meal with broiled brussel sprouts as the side dish. Talk about heaven!

I live in Florida and shrimp is a staple in our home. There are so many different ways that I have had panko shrimp.

Breaded shrimp is very tasty but when you want a little lighter dish, this recipe is super tasty and there is no deep frying with vegetable oil involved.

    • Large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
    • Dry white wine
    • Fresh lemon juice

    Can I Use Frozen Shrimp?

    Frozen shrimp can be used in this dish. I prefer fresh shrimp but on occasion I do use raw frozen shrimp.

    Most grocery stores carry raw, peeled, and deveined shrimp in the seafood department.

    Can I Substitute Garlic Powder For Minced Garlic?

    Yes, you can use garlic powder instead of minced garlic.

    When substituting garlic powder for minced garlic, the ratio is: 1/4 teaspoon of powder for every 1 teaspoon of minced garlic.

    Is Panko Healthier Than Regular Breadcrumbs?

    Panko crumbs are lower in calories, sodium, and fat. They are also higher in fiber making panko bread crumbs a healthier alternative.

    What Can I Substitute The Wine For?

    A great substitution for the white wine is lemon juice or vegetable broth.

    For best results substitute the exact amount of white wine with the exact amount of alternative liquid.

    What Size Shrimp Should I Use?

    Use larger shrimp. Either Large or Jumbo.

    Any size smaller and the shrimp may get over cooked and become tough during the baking process.

    5. Sprinkle shrimp with breadcrumb topping.

    6. Bake shrimp until they are pink. Cooking time is approximately 10-12 minutes.

    7. Add crumbled bacon and broil for 2 minutes to a gorgeous golden brown color.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound raw large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
    • 1/4 cup dry white wine
    • Juice from one lemon
    • 4 garlic cloves - minced
    • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter - melted
    • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
    • Hot sauce (optional)
    • Lemon wedges (optional)
    • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
    • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese - finely grated
    • 2 tablespoons butter - melted
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley - finely chopped
    • 4-6 strips bacon (cooked and crumbled)

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
    2. Rinse peeled and deveined shrimp.
    3. Pat dry with paper towels and place in a large bowl.
    4. In a small bowl, mix wine, lemon juice, butter, and garlic. Add a few dashes of hot sauce if you like a little heat.
    5. Pour the liquid mixture over the shrimp and toss to coat.
